Information for Older Adults

Resources for Older Adults

The Salem Public Library is proud to offer a suite of resources designed to support older adults in living well, staying connected, and planning for the future. The Aging Well LibGuide provides a carefully curated collection of trusted information on topics such as health, wellness, lifelong learning, and community engagement. Patrons can explore this guide online where resources are organized for easy navigation and practical use or by clicking on Aging Well LibGuide in the Navigation Menu on the left.

Complementing the LibGuide, the monthly Resilient Library Newsletter highlights timely programs, articles, and updates that encourage resilience and enrichment at every stage of life. Patrons can access the newsletter directly through the City of Salem website by clicking on Resilient Library Newsletter in the Navigation Menu on the left.

In partnership with AARP, the library also offers the Aging in Place Workbook, a practical tool to help individuals and families plan thoughtfully for aging at home. This workbook provides checklists, guidance, and resources to support independence and comfort. It is available for download or viewing through the same webpage as the newsletter, ensuring patrons have convenient access to both materials. Click on the Resilient Library Newsletter & Aging in Place Workbook in the Navigation Menu on the left.

GetSetUp Database

Also, for those interested in interactive learning opportunities, the library provides access to GetSetUp, a database of free live and on-demand classes taught by older adults for older adults. Topics range from technology skills to wellness, hobbies, and personal growth. Patrons can find GetSetUp by visiting the Research page of the Salem Public Library website from our Home page and selecting the GetSetUp link under Resources for Topical Learning.
